Jussie Smollett’s Character Removed from Empire Episodes

After being charged with felony disorderly conduct from filing a false police report, the producers on Empire have announced that Jussie Smollett’s character ‘Jamal’ will be removed from the final two episodes of the season. Lee Daniels and Ron Howard, executive producers of Empire say “we are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of ‘Jamal’ from the final two episodes of the season.”

This is unfortunate for the extremely popular show, as Smollett’s character, Jamal Lyon, initially drew much praise for helping break down stereotypes for gay black men. Now that he has turned himself in for faking a racist, anti-gay attack on himself, his future is not looking so bright on the show and in the media.

The big question remains, will he return to the show after the dust has settled? Who knows.
